Fujitsu may incorporate palm scanners into smart phones to drastically improve current methods of identification verification. Most iPhone users are familiar with the fingerprint technology that insures the iPhone owner is the only one using the phone. This new palm scanner technology is similar but more advanced. With a false acceptance rate of only 0.00008% and a false rejection rate of 0.01% many large banks in Japan have begun implementing the scanners into their ATM machines. The future of this technology was discussed at CES in January, soon card-less point-of-sale terminals will allow a registered user to leave there credit and debit cards at home and make payments simply by having their palms scanned.
